Maebh Walsh is an award winning bridal dress designer and couturier with specialist expertise in hand stitching and beading. She joined the team at Roisin Cross Silks (RCS) in May 2008.
Maebh graduated from the Grafton Academy with First Class honours in 1978. She was awarded an ANCO scholarship in line management and gained valuable experience about the dress design business from concept to completion.
In 1980, Maebh opened “The Shed Boutique”, a dress designing business, in Foxrock with fellow graduate from the Grafton Academy, Rosemary O’Connell. She also began her involvement with education.
Three years later, Maebh and Rosemary were delighted to receive an invitation from John Rocha to move to the newly established Irish Fashion Design Centre which was then located in Galleria on St Stephen’s Green, Dublin.
The Irish Fashion Design Centre subsequently moved to the Design Centre in Powerscourt Townhouse and it was then that Maebh created her own label, MAEDB.
A year later, Maebh received an offer she could not refuse and moved to Tucson, Arizona, USA, to further her career in fashion. She also continued her teaching career.
She returned home to Ireland in 1988 and continued to focus on lecturing and teaching dress design, soft furnishings, sewing, pattern making and alteration. She worked in Stillorgan, Churchtown and subsequently Blackrock, gaining experience with both teenagers and adults.
While lecturing and teaching, Maebh continued dress designing for private clients.
Maebh enjoys structuring classes based on the existing skills within her group. She encourages all clients from beginners to advanced to participate fully in the learning experience.
Maebh looks forward to many years of teaching RCS clients offering her extensive experience and talent.
