Sarah Foy Biog

Sarah Foy, Managing Director of Sarah Foy Designs joined the team at Roisin Cross Silks in July 2010 to present dress making courses for adults, sewing courses, courses on making Roman blinds, cushions and throws and in the future, a course on pattern making.

Sarah trained as a dress designer at the Grafton Academy of Dress Design from 1999 – 2001 where she studied design, fashion drawing, pattern drafting, cutting, laying, sizing, grading and garment assembly. Her studies also focused on fashion illustration including computer assisted drawing using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Sarah was also charged with inventing and producing collections at the Grafton Academy for fashion shows across the country.

In 2005, Sarah established her own brand and business; Sarah Foy Designs based in Clontarf, Dublin 3 where in addition to being MD, she also operates as creative design and business development manager. Sarah Foy Designs is a registered company specializing in exclusive inspirational wear for the bridal and evening wear market. The key components of her business include developing relationships with clients from the initial enquiry stage and giving the client confidence in her dedicated service. She also has shown significant skills anticipating and exceeding clients’ needs and expectations. During the design process she also likes to nurture client’s ideas, encouraging imaginative thoughts while recommending styles and concepts that will have a romantic feminine feel and capture individual styles.

Prior to establishing her successful dress design business, Sarah spent time working as a lingerie designer at Mamselle Lingerie and a head designer at Careerline Corporate Wear.

In 2009, Sarah also successfully completed a one week intensive Millinery course at Central St Martin’s, London. During the course Sarah achieved the technical skills required for designing, blocking and shaping sinamay and felt hats and has since created her new Millinery collection and attained decorative techniques and methods for professionally finishing hats, as well as measuring the head and fitting hats.

Sarah is greatly looking forward to meeting Roisin Cross Silks clients through the vast and exciting courses she will lead. She will nourish creative skills and make sure everyone goes home with something truly unique to reflect individual personalities and lifestyle.
