Judith O'Sullivan Biog

Judith O’Sullivan purchased Roisin Cross Silks, a thriving business that was then 28 years old, in early 2007.

Roisin was a close friend of Judith’s dear mother and it was Judith’s teenage years and during her nursing training, that Roisin had kindly introduced her to the wonderful world of silks.

When Roisin went on buying trips, she would invite Judith in to ‘mind the business’ in her home in Clonskeagh where it was based. Judith fondly remember the sheer excitement on Roisin’s return from these trips when she was offered five yards of whatever silk she would like and remembers the magic of choosing it.

Following the purchase, Judith moved the business to Dun Laoghaire overlooking the marina and Dublin Bay and re-launched it under her direction. Since purchase she has focused on the importation and sale of fine silks from Thailand, India and China to an extensive and loyal customer base largely built up from the strength of the RCS business heritage and name. Her portfolio now includes Thai, organza and Dupion crepe silks, triple silk satin crepe and Duchess silk satins amongst others.

Under her direction, Judith has also built up the Roisin Cross Silks in-house dress design service and has established regular dress making and curtain making courses. She also goes on annual buying trips to the Far East to ensure that her growing and loyal customer base have access to a range of magnificent silks that is continuously updated and that she continues to deliver on the original Roisin Cross reputation of excellent, integrity and quality.

Judith comes to the silk business with significant business and management skills. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) from St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin 4 in 1987 and from then until 2007 she worked as an Intensive Care Nurse at the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin 1. During that time, Judith also undertook a Bachelor in Nursing, several nursing management courses and was elected to the Board of Directors at the Mater Private Hospital.
